Mind and its need for illustration: the conclusion

It is there for you but it may not really be there!

It is there for you but it may not really be there!

I was discussing about the requirement to be expressive with apt examples in all aspects of  life. Check out the previous blogs here https://writeforpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/mind-and-its-need-for-illustration-the-beginning/ and https://writeforpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/mind-and-its-need-for-illustration-the-intermediate/. The discussion is about gifts and being more open with material exchange to display feelings or strength. The gift element again is an issue for many individuals right from price to the purchased item or the label.

Comparison is one strong enemy for the helpless victims of illustrative relations. He got me this and you got me that! Well the thought process that led to this outcome was 100% different from the other. If only more time was spent on the real deal than the nick knacks it would be a lot easier for us to sustain and prosper.

Show how much more you can offer as compared to the other person. In case you pay higher than that one I will stay with you. I have this brand product it is known to be the best out there. If this all doesn’t drive you crazy there is more to it. Out of sight out of mind, that is one more aspect we got to fight tooth and nail when we are existing. Illustrate that you are a friend. Invite others over, go to their place and hang out. Keep in touch; that is really the oxygen for relationships. If you miss few years of life all the old memories just possibly vanishes. There is no record of your identity if you choose to go on a world trip without a Facebook update or mention to others.

That really is sad, as it could be tiring and impossible to keep track of every person in your life. Make sure they visit you and get along. This virtual world is adding to all the trouble. My cousin is just twelve and she has already changed her email ID more than 5 times. One of my friends probably got a hacked account and so she lost all the contact. Now I am clueless how to get to her, as email and phone number is all we had for communication.

This is not just repulsive technology, but adversity. Now you have to call and confirm the right email address then pass the message. Phones will be gone soon and you will virtually run around only with internet based profiles and numbers. Possibly even name would not matter. Names could be repetitive, but the smart software algorithm generated numbers would be totally unique.

Virtual cards don’t matter as they are based on universal theme. Shopping online is certainly appealing but the stress related to identity theft, shipping charges and long time for returning purchases just keeps people away from it.

So back to my original question, how can you illustrate your true feelings? Being there in times of need, saying ‘I love you’ more often or just popping by often showing you are alive can be sufficient? Would you be yourself and stay away from the universal trends and pressure to get involved in the illustrative chain? I doubt there is a solution to this problem. There are million dollar enterprises running efficiently all based on this need to show and express your thoughts, feelings, potential and calibre in the big bad world.

At every step you will be shown an apt way of doing things, you can either follow the lead or just break the shackles of stereotypes and just leap for a new experience.

Mind and its need for illustration: the intermediate

Optical illusions

Optical illusions

I have been talking about the strong requirement to be illustrative about things in life. If you missed the beginning check it out here: https://writeforpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/08/01/mind-and-its-need-for-illustration-the-beginning/ Right from the most mundane aspects to the major parts like love and marriage, career and business, models are required for it all. Do you think Romans or Egyptians had a pattern or ‘how-to’ guide for making Colosseum or Pyramids or they were pure genius experimentation? Did Mayans or Mesopotamians work on their calendar or city planning structures with pre-existing sample setup? Even in personal life there is immense pressure to perform. Exhibit your state of mind in one way or other. Converse well, write poems, buy cards, plan surprises, get gifts and more. Proving what we believe and feel has taken precedence in our life.

Then again, there is the question do you know this person well enough to bring smile on their faces? What if he/she doesn’t like it? Then there is a new rigmarole of returning the gift based on size, brand, colour and more. Gift purchase should never have started in the first place. It is normal for some people to be tongue-tied, reserved or just shy, but adding to their detachment is a whole new social circus.

I guess presents once a year was good enough, but now they are more of a compulsion for every occasion. I understand the routine of doing something turns the whole idea repulsive and boring. How many things can one person possibly shop for? There is a large group of materialistic individuals who want to judge you from the value of your presents that has let humans down totally. If your dog fetches a ball it is good, but if you get fresh laundry for your children every time it doesn’t give you the best mother title. Has life come down to this?

Mind and its need for illustration: the beginning

Universe and its complexities!

Universe and its complexities!

It is not unusual to demand proof for what is being heard and said. Few aspects of human existence like the feelings just can’t sustain without any threats anymore. With promotions and larger than life picture of the emotional side, I doubt there is any room for ideas that cannot be put up in visual or virtual form.

Remember at school we are shown how to do things. Then in exam there might be a question: Illustrate with a good example how this should be done perfectly? Well my way of doing it is just as right as yours. Results certainly are going to be different as we are different individuals. Living example, role model, social icon and more, we have an illustration for every section of life. Sibling as illustration of a good/bad decision maker, ‘how-to’ section for understanding things that have technical or specialized aspect to it and classroom lessons to choose a way of living; we have specimens for it all.

In personal life there are instances for getting all illustrative and showy about feelings. Right from social network to movies and common products everything screams love and friendship and relations. However the truth about them is still a global secret. Some friends are with us just for networking or when they get latest gossip and ideas for fun. Few may even count you as one more buffer to the system. A second option just in case the primary choice bailed out.

If you want to show your love, say to your husband how can it be done without getting involved in the endless process of gifts or just another illustration of how common and overdone it is! Surprise parties, dinner dates, flowers, chocolates and gifts all sound fun. There are thousands of web pages and books asking you to try something of that sort to cheer your beloved.

How to go out of the box if this is all surrounding and clogging your creativity? Indians celebrate a festival for the brother-sister bond of love. There are some good stories that worked as a trendsetter, but now all we can see is stronger need for giving presents and getting fancy accessories to make up for the time siblings have actually been out of touch for so long.
